I agree that more research is needed to understand the mechanism of action and long term effects of emergency contraception (EC). In a report published by researchers of the Princeton university(http://ec.princeton.edu/questions/ec-review.pdf) they mention that EC has the same mechanism is of action as oral contraceptives, but no clinical data exist to corroborate this theory. Regarding the long term effects of EC we need more time to know what happen to women who use emergency contraception as a regular form of birth control. That means more than once in a long period of time. EC contains dosis that are five times as much as the dosis of the birth control pill, and it has been demostrated that high dosis of progestins increse the risk of breast cancer.http://www.omsoul.com/ThePillandBreastCancer-ChrisKahlenborn.php

Although the pharmaceutical industry commercializes EC as safe and denies the abortificient effect it is clear that the alteration of the endometrium would impair implantation of a newly form human being.
