Guest guest
You're right about not jumping to medication as 1st method to tackle this problem. What have you tried behaviorly? Do you have a consultant available to you? You need a physician such as a pediatric psychiatrist who is familiar with this population. You mentioned you have had difficulty finding one. Have you tried getting in touch with the SPED PAC in your area to ask other parents who they have found to be helpful? Where do you live? Maybe someone on the list can make a recommendation. Since adderal & ritalin were tried, I'm assuming that someone has diagnosed him as having ADHD? Risperidol is a " mood stabilizer " , a medication often given for explosive kids, such as those with bipolar illness. Has he been diagnosed with this? So without knowing what his diagnoses are, it would be unwise to recommend a medication. There has been alot on this list & also Me-list about sleep problems in our kids. I have always found that searching the archives is very helpful.
