Shahla Alai-les received her B.S. from Southern Illinois University and

her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. She has worked with children

with autism for the past 18 years. In Kansas, Shahla served as the Director of

the Early Childhood Autism Project, as coordinator of the Learning Assessment

Center, as a supervisor in Educare, and as a consultant for adults with

developmental disabilities. She is a faculty member in the Department of

Behavior

Analysis at the University of North Texas, where she established the North

Texas Autism Project (NTAP). NTAP works in conjunction with Behavior Analysts

providing intensive interventions to children with autism in the region. NTAP

also

serves as a training and research context for graduate and undergraduate

students. Shahla’s research interests are in the areas of play skills, social

skills, sibling and family support, change agent (caregivers, teachers)

training,

stimulus control and conditioned reinforcement. Shahla is also interested in

cultural diversity and has been an active member of the School of Community

Service Diversity Committee
