Guest guest
Kim: Although our daughter was not hallucinating, we were in much the same place a few years ago. Very bright, very academically oriented, very college bound. She insisted on going to college and making it all work, despite anxiety about social contact and showering. We hoped that she would work some things out by having a single room and the support of disabled student services, but she basically spiralled downward. She lived at school for the entire school year but basically didn't finish but one class - for the whole year. after coming home for the summer and being in holding mode for three months, she's now in a residential program for OCD () and is doing well so far. In retrospect I can see that we all had great intentions and motivations in having her go to school, but I wish we had formulated a n alternate plan that was more of a halfway step to independent living - maybe in an apartment close to home and doing local community college, or something like that. The stress of being away at school, classes, total responsibility for herself, and her anxiety and OCD was a lot for her to juggle. > > Hello All, > > Been a long time since I have posted.
