Guest guest Posted February 19, 2004 Report Share Posted February 19, 2004 ok... its confession time... ive always had a smell about me too... its gotten worse in the past few years... i douche... use baby wipes... powder... but shortly after i take a shower... there it is again... someone asked me once if it is a normal woman smell.... well,,, ummm.,.,, how do i tell? its not like i can compare!!!!!!!! LOL i took yeast meds by mouth for a while.... have tried just about everything... but nada... its embarrasing! and i am very very self concious! kinda makes it hard on the sex life too.... Guest guest Posted February 19, 2004 Report Share Posted February 19, 2004 Barb, You should never douche, use baby wipes or baby powder in the genital area. all of those things, especially douching will interfere with your normal vaginal flora. I know it is very graphic, but could you describe the smell to me. If it is amine or " fishy " then you could have a low grade bacterial vaginosis or possibly trichomonas vaginalis. I would really mention this to your gyno and get a culture and blood tests done. Does your urine have an odor too. Again, I apologize for asking these questions but no one should have to suffer with that! Guest guest Posted February 20, 2004 Report Share Posted February 20, 2004 Actually, douching can cause bacterial vaginitis. My mom had it for a year, and she thought it was a yeast infection. Finally, she went to the gyn, as she was embarresed too. She got the right med's and no longer has it.
