Forgive the crosspost please but I urgently need some supportive comments from

moms and professionals to show to our OT tomorrow or this week. I already know

the answer to the question, but any backup in just a few words, that you can

offer would be of trememdous help. I'm on digest so if possible, please also

contact me at gldcst@....

Our sweet and effective OT who has had few or no behavior problems with my

daughter to begin with ( is 16 and has been doing a VB program for 5 years

with great success administered by myself and an experienced behavioral

assistant, written and overseen by a thoroughly well trained and experienced

CBA).

Said OT went to a 2 day conference in Texas where she heard someone named

Hollander PhD OT/L speak and she is practically in a manic state of

enthusiam, badgering me to allow her to write a program to administer some of

his techniques while working with my dtr. In addition she wants all our other

therapists to follow this plan. I've already run it by our Behavioral team and

the general concensus is " Oh boy here we go again...how would she appreciate

someone from another discipline going to a 2 day seminar on OT and then

insisting on trying whatever she gathered from her notes, with no supervision

from the professional " . So yes, I know it's absurd and I have a hard time

dampening her enthusiasm but she's getting almost fanatical about It.

I have researched this guy and not found anything written by him- I'm sure he's

a capable and interesting speaker but it is going to take more than a " NO " from

me to end her badgering. The thing is- she has been a great OT and accomplished

so much with our daughter - and we've kissed alot of OT frogs believe me. I hate

to have to end our OT relationship over this.

I seem to remember list conversation at one point referrring to the great

importance of a CBA writing the program, even taking one's chances with a CABA

doing so (or at least someone with years of experience!!)

Can anyone send me simply a brief supportive few words like maybe " over my dead

body " LOL that I can use as backup. Thank you so much for reading and any help

you can offer.

(and of course there's always the " hellooooo- how about implementing OUR program

that has already been proven to work " point of view. I'm getting so I dread

seeing her at the door.
