Guest guest
My husband was on zocor, pravachol, lipitor, and zetia. He now has a bottle of whelchol, but I am hesitant to let him try it. He has had eye problems for over a year, he has lost all muscle tone, lost sex drive shortly after starting the zocor, he get testy when on statins, his bursitis and tendonitis get inflamed when on statins. He has had the shingles, (I know everyone will say that happens to anyone, but I still blame the statins) When on Zetia he had severe stabbing pains near the pancreas and gall bladder. He had every test available and they find nothing wrong....but something caused the pains. This was only after 2 weeks on Zetia. He was on Lipitor for less than 30 days and he could not walk because of the bursitis and tendonitis. All the Dr. Who have prescribed the statins will admit that the statins are the cause of any of his problems. our primary Dr. Did say that the bursitis and tendon problems could be caused by the statins. She has not prescribed them to him. He is now taking fish oil, B supplements, I added some C, and a multi vitamin, and cholestoff. Since he is on other meds because he has a stent, I worry about going to the co Q 10 because it might interact with the stupid low blood pressure meds. Meds he doesn't need, but that is the routine after a stent! He is getting testy again and I believe the cholestoff is working. We will see. If it is I suppose he will stick with it because it doesn't seem to have the other side effects, but the irriatability can get on your nerves. Oh...by the way...if statins are so great and are SUPPOSED to prevent heart attacks, why did my husband need a stent after taking all these drugs? I saw the article today about how wonder taking large doses of one statin is SUPPOSED to reverse plaque build up. And wonder upon wonder...no one in their study had any side effects!!! I don't know how that happens unless they kick out anyone who complains.
