I'm thankful to everyone for suggestions re: Catholic/Christian on-line health courses. I've learned more about the recent changes at my local high school. Presently my local school has school board policies in place to promote only abstinence. Now the state of New Mexico is adding new benchmarks to the public school health course, and our local schools are trying to adopt to these new education standard/benchmarks. These state educational benchmarks read like a Planned Parenthood manifesto. Marriage is never mentioned, sexuality activity/unprotected sex is mentioned 64 times. There are no lessons on fetal development. Pregnancy topics are listed 16 times and are framed in negative terms: unintended pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, pregnancy prevention, teen pregnancy. Units are planned to educate students on health access, i.e. Planned Parenthood services. This course is really a great marketing plan for Planned Parenthood. They get to implement this market plan into all the public schools of New Mexico. The NM Health Standards 9-12 may be found at http://www.ped.state.nm.us/standards/. We need public school alternative health courses.
