Guest guest
Hi everybody, I have a question about potty training and wasn't sure where to post it-- then saw the ad for the potty training class-- how timely! Here is our situation: My son (who turns 5 next week) has been completely potty trained since September and is doing really well with it. But just this past week he has not wanted to stand up to pee (which he has been doing all along) and when he sits down, he wants to " play " not pee. This happens even when I *know* he has to go-- like first thing in the morning, or after we've been out all day. At first I thought maybe he was doing this just to get my attention, since the potty stuff has become so routine and he's not getting any major " yippee! " when he goes these days. Then I thought maybe he wasn't feeling well (upset tummy) and wanted to sit because he wasn't sure if he had to pee or poop. Now I'm not so sure what's going on. I'm concerned he's going to cause an accident simply by holding it too long. Is this stuff normal for newly trained kids? Any suggestions or ideas? (Sorry to be graphic, but I don't know how else to explain!) Thanks in advance,
Guest guest
When taking a sociology class years ago, we read a study done on white, middle class kids who were rigouressly potty-trained and inner city kids who were not potty-trained at all. The difference between each group being going to the bathroom on their own was three months. I did not potty-train mine and all four, including (34/DS) were right on schedule. took a bit longer. Kids want to imitate adults. I think if you just show your child what's expected by taking him/her to the bathroom with you when you go, he/her will catch on a imitate you. granny On Sat, Aug 9, 2008 at 8:28 PM, billieissymom <billieissymom@...>wrote: > Issy is four years old and attends prek half the day.
