Hi Tom......

Hummmmm.....yes, I can see your point, but I didn't realize the purpose of the list was to negate all efforts in bringing down cholesterol numbers. I thought it was to find alternatives to statins, sorry, I misunderstood.

I guess I'm pretty brainwashed into thinking a high level of cholesterol is bad, while at the same time I wish for a moderate (not low) level. And thats what brought me to search for statin-alternatives. I didn't realize I was confusing the purpose of the list.

When you say that Inositol alone lowers blood cholesterol, do you mean that when it is combined with hexanicotinate that it does not lower it. We have to take the Inositol by itself??? Now I'm confused when I thought I finally had a handle on it! I've been taking the Flush-Free Inositol hexanicotinate for six months and my numbers remain the same, so thats where I'm coming from.

Sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding....

RE: Niacin vs Insolitol Hex. Hi Bob -- Would you go back to your Caremark site and verify thisstatement please???? Are you confusing it (inositol Hex vs Time-ReleaseNiacin)???<<< One thing Caremark does mention about this product is that it tends to be more toxic to the liver than straight niacin (nicotinic acid) (3-pyridine carboxilic acid) >>I have always been told by my Health Store folks and I think I've alsoread that Inositol Hex is the safest of all the forms. The onlyproblem being is it doesn't do anything for your cholesterol. TheInstanta! neous form of Nicontinic Acid is also quite safe but does givethe flushing effect. The most potentially harmful (most side-effects)is the Time Release or Slow Acting Nicotinic Acid. Because it is timereleased the liver is always working to keep that enzyme down whereaswith the instantaneous it has "time off" so to speak.Anyway, I'ed appreciate your checking your source for me.Thanks a bunch...Noreen
