Guest guest
Hello, This is a tough one. I did get some help from " The Laser Therapy Handbook " by Jan and Lars Hode. Lots of research in there too. Had no idea that there was such extensive application of therapeutic laser. www.Spectramedics.com has some good info. on their site regarding calculating dose based on desired clincial outcomes. I believe it's in the Resources section. I haven't found anything else...still looking though. I'd like to know about other resources if anyone else has found something too. I bought my laser from SpectraVET. Bought a single diode probe. Found about it from CRI as we used one in class. Pretty simple and well priced as compared with others I looked at. Anyone having luck treating elbow OA with laser? If so, how frequently are you treating and what doses are you using? Specific points you find to be helpful? le Robbins, P.T., C.C.R.T. > >Reply-To: VetRehab >To: <VetRehab > >Subject: FW: Laser stuff >Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2006 16:36:26 -0600 > > >Hey All, > >Do you have any recommendations on text books covering laser therapy, I >feel > >like I just got my feet wet at CRI and do not fully understand how to use >for therapy purposes ie. where to apply applicator, over what range of >tissue, how to treat joints? Guest guest
It is good these questions came up. I was just about to send something out myself. I have been trying out a laser for the past week and a half, the Q1000 by 2035 inc. The rep sent the laser along with several books. Larry Lyttle is the author of two of them. He also developed this laser. I have had a laser for 2 years that I have liked but felt almost immediately that I should have bought something with a larger head. I thought I just wanted it for acupuncture point stimulation but soon realized that I was using for wounds and sprains and strains and such over larger areas much more than I thought I would. What is interesting is that this laser is a much lower power than I thought I would want. It is suppose to be similar to the Erchonia laser that was demoed at the vet chiropractic conference in AZ. The Erchonia they showed was $18,000. But it had miraculous results right in front of us. Two people showed immediate improvement with less pain and much greater range of motion after just 3 minutes of use. I have had similar results with the Q1000 I have been trying out. The theory is that we don’t need to be putting as much energy into the tissues as was once thought. It is more about the wavelengths and frequencies than it is about the number of joules. I am desperately trying to read as much as I can about the lasers to see what I want to do. I may try out a couple more to see what I think. So far I really like this one though. Good results, easy to use, small, safe. The question ,of course, is: could my results be even better? What if I had these same frequencies and wavelengths but more power. Is the theory correct? Thoughts and ideas would really be helpful here. (full time rehab vet – someone asked that we put this info in) ________________________ www.evelynvet.com evelynvet@...
