Guest guest
Hi all- I will be treating a 3 year old BC with a chronic ileopsoas strain(confirmed by MRI). The only symptom this dog had was a very intermittent skipping of the right rear leg at a run or trot. The owner was convinced this dog had an ACL tear. The surgeon she saw was not convinced and could not find anything wrong. The owner persisted until an MRI was done, confirming the ileopsoas strain and a healthy ACL! By this time, the injury was 4 weeks old. This owner is very intensely involved in agility and I know she will want to return to competing ASAP. How are people generally treating these chronic strains? Ultrasound vs laser? UWTM work? Massage? My other concern is that since this dog has such intermittent symptoms, short of an MRI, how will we know if she is healed??(the surgeon said she is not painful at all and would never have seen any problem except that the owner caught the skipping on videotape at home). I don't want to return this dog to work too early only to have her re-injure herself! Thanks in advance for the help!
