On Tuesday, June 6th, ABC's late night news program " Nightline " will present

another installment in its series " Echoes of Autism. " In the Tuesday night

segment " My Brother's Keeper, " Nightline correspondent Donvan examines

the challenges faced by those often overlooked in the world of autism:

siblings.

ABC News and " Nightline " have reported extensively on autism and how the

fastest growing developmental disability impacts the more than one million

people living with autism and the people close to them. In their latest

report, the ABC News team of correspondent Donvan and producer Caren

Zucker look at autism in the family in " Echoes of Autism: My Brother's

Keeper, " and the burdens and blessings of being the brother or sister of an

autistic person.

From Nightline correspondent Donvan:

Some people have a notion that journalists need to keep a distance from

their subjects. It's a nice rule, and makes sense on

the surface, but there are times when it definitely does not result in the

best journalism. Tuesday night's report from the world of autism qualifies

as one of those exceptions. It is, I think, the fourth or fifth piece on

the topic of autism that I've reported for Nightline in the last 5 years or

so. Each time, my partner in the process has been an ABC producer named

Caren Zucker. Caren's oldest boy, Mickey, has autism, and so, yes, she is

very close to the subject. And that is why the pieces we've reported

together have such power, insight and humanity.

" Echoes of Autism: My Brother's Keeper " airs Tuesday, June 6th. Nightline

airs at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time in most areas. Check local listings for

exact air times.
