Dawn,

Where did you get those cards? I'd like to order them if there is somewhere

to order them from.

My friend has a 10 year old daughter who's HFA, she used to throw horrible

fits in public, and they always got dirty looks. Many times she joked about

making a shirt that said " I'm not bad, I'm autistic " .

I haven't had much of this type of proplem with my 10 year old, who

has AS, but my 3 year old, , who had a dx of PDD-NOS and SID can be quite

difficult at times in public and at home.

Back in the beginning of the summer we talked about taking the kids to the

parks. Some kind soul posted the link for us to be able to get these cards so

our kids didn't have to wait in the long lines. I got mine a couple of weeks

ago. Will that kind soul post the link again for those list mates who are new,

or didn't catch it last time. I didn't save it so I'm no help.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barb

Here is Herskowitz's phone number (954) 236-9415 call

and find out how to get those cards, it was sent to me by her she runs a

therapy center here in South Florida and she is wonderful she has an autistic

child

herself and opened the therapy center here in Florida. The cards come

laminated and I like them b/c it will help with the long lines at the Disney

Parks I

plan on just showing them to the guest services there to get front of the line

passes.

If anyone is interested, I created autism cards (mostly out of

necessity) to hand to people in public in case your child is having a

tantrum. Instead of putting up with the rude stares and comments, I

just hand them a card.

Just go to : http://www.autismlink.com/store/ The cards are the first

item there.

They read: " What you are witnessing is a child with autism. This child

is not a brat, does not need discipline, and we are not bad parents.

Autism is a neurobiological disorder that makes children behave in

ways that most people don't understand. People with autism are often

confused and upset and react in ways that are socially inappropriate,

such as a tantrum. Please be patient while we teach our child how to

function appropriately in the community. "

One I created was:

Our sons behavior caught your attention, your behavior caught ours.

We are trying to modify his, please modify yours.

Call 1-800-3autism

Once handed to them as I would move on, they would find me in the store and

begin apologies, dialogue.

The elderly man that said to me " I'd just take him home and beat his ass " ,

my reply was.... " That's why God gave him to us, not you " and handed him the

card.
