Guest guest
Good job Harry! Man your getting it down! I'm impressed!! Notice you were lower by eating only 1 piece of Canadian bacon. Get regular bacon next time since it has no sugar in it and won't effect your bgs that much. I noticed you are checking prior to 2 hours. I'd like to encourage you to wait a solid 2 hours prior to testing. Reason? Even 10 points lower will be greatly encouraging and 15 minutes could do it! I must tell you as well, wait a solid 4 hours before eating your next meal. This gives the body time to get rid of any sugar it can prior to the next meal so you don't get a high sugar that will keep feeding itself. I.E 190 at breakfast, you eat breakfast, 2 hours later 225 so you eat lunch 3 hours past breakfast instead of waiting 4 hours now you fed the high sugar and keep it going etc. Main point is, wait a solid 4 to 5 hours before eating your next meal to prevent the high bgs feeding. It is a normal practise for diabetics to wait 4 hours prior to eating meals. Keep me updated Harry!! You really bring a smile to my face. It is so nice to see someone taking their diabetes so serious and being agressive about getting it under control. I love it! BTW I know others on here are just as agressive as Harry so it would take me a while to list all the names smiles. Guest guest
BTW Harry do a test today and leave off the rye bread for lunch and replace the bread with 2 cups of salad. Let me know your 2 hour post test results after lunch. advice for Harry > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92. > > > So I tried that experiment and for breakfast had only scrambled eggs and > > > some Canadian bacon and two hours later my gbs was 120. > > > Then I celebrated by going to lunch with my cousin at a chinese > restaurant > > > and I just had a bowl of hot and sour soup and two egg rolls dipped in > > duck > > > sauce and mustard. Guest guest
Pre-lunch gbs of 108 For lunch I only ate two boiled eggs and a hunk of pepper cheese and drank a diet Coke. Two hours later my gbs was 104. advice for Harry > > > > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92. > > > > So I tried that experiment and for breakfast had only scrambled eggs > and > > > > some Canadian bacon and two hours later my gbs was 120. > > > > Then I celebrated by going to lunch with my cousin at a chinese > > restaurant > > > > and I just had a bowl of hot and sour soup and two egg rolls dipped in > > > duck > > > > sauce and mustard. Guest guest
Probably for the first time this year all my gbs were in the normal range for a whole day! Pre-dinner gbs was 103 For dinner I had roast beef, broccoli and a salad with diet tea. Two hours after dinner my gbs was 113. This time I celebrated by eating a bowl of sugar free jello and a few walnuts. advice for Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92. > > > > > So I tried that experiment and for breakfast had only scrambled eggs > > and > > > > > some Canadian bacon and two hours later my gbs was 120. > > > > > Then I celebrated by going to lunch with my cousin at a chinese > > > restaurant > > > > > and I just had a bowl of hot and sour soup and two egg rolls dipped > in > > > > duck > > > > > sauce and mustard. Guest guest
Good job Harry, I just don't have the discipline to do that. Guest guest
Hi Harry. Great job my friend!! Good job! BTW if you are hungry after eating only 2 eggs and a hunk of pepper cheese, which total is only 2 grams of carbs, eat you a cup of salad 6 grams, cup of broccoli, spinach, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, etc. all 6 grams for 1 cup that will fill you up. So, try that which will bring you to about 8 grams for lunch. Experiment and have fun. Have your wife take 1 cup of a slow acting veggie and help you come up with something creative for lunch using meat and a veggie. Perhaps a veggie omelet? She sounds like a wonderful cook! BTW hot pepper cheese is my favorite! advice for Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92. Guest guest
Hurray Harry!! Man I think you finally got it down. Can you do me a favor? Can you please keep posting what you eat and your pre-meal and two hour post test results? Reason, it is really encouraging me to keep on keeping on and am certain it is showing others on the list that it is quite possible to have great bgs control by watching carbs. Heck, your bgs were in the mid 200 range prior to starting this and in about 4 days, your now running tight bgs!! It amazes me how much carb counting really does work and how quick acting carbs can make bgs control near impossible! In about 4 days, starting today, you will begin to feel much much better having good levels of energy and other noticeable effects from the good bgs control. In 3 months, get lab work done on you and when you get the results from your doc, granted you can't see the best, ask for a copy of it and hang it on the refrigerator!! People need to know what you have done Harry. Tell everyone... show them before and after blood work results! Others on the list watching carbs, you will want to do the same... in three months, get blood work done for your lipid panel (cholesterol) and for your hemoglobin a1c... you'll be amazed!! Harry, again, great job!! Please please keep posting what you eat and your pre-meal bgs reading and your 2 hour post meal reading to encourage all of us on the list. BTW once again, don't forget to wait 4 hours prior to eating your next meal to prevent sugar build up in your blood from the previous meal. advice for Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92. > > > > > > So I tried that experiment and for breakfast had only scrambled > eggs > > > and > > > > > > some Canadian bacon and two hours later my gbs was 120. > > > > > > Then I celebrated by going to lunch with my cousin at a chinese > > > > restaurant > > > > > > and I just had a bowl of hot and sour soup and two egg rolls > dipped > > in > > > > > duck > > > > > > sauce and mustard. Guest guest
Puzzling update: Fasting gbs this morning was 88. I ate two scrambled eggs and two pieces of Canadian bacon with a 5.5 ounce of V8 juice, which contains 8 grams of carbs for a total of between 10 and definitely no more than 12 grams of total carbs consumed for breakfast. Two hours later my gbs was 132, a 44 point rise in gbs. Four hours after breakfast my gbs was 116. So I ate lunch consisting of three hefty pieces of roast beef and a big hunk of pepper cheese and a salad with some tomatoes in it, but mostly lettuce and salad dressing of oil and balsamic vinegar. I will check later to see what rise in gbs I get in two hours. What puzzles me is it usual for a 10 or 12 carb meal to shoot the glucose level up 44 points two hours later? advice for Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Fasting gbs this morning was 92.
