Guest guest
Hello, I joined this list to try and help my 88 year old mother who was put on Liptor and you all have been a great help. Today, I have another reason for being here. Last week my husband started having chest pains and to make a long story short he had to have 5 bypasses and is doing very well now. He is 57 years old, has never smoked or drank, has never had high blood pressure, has never had high cholesterol (it was 167 last week and the LDL was a little high) He is a little overweight and doesn't always eat very well but he is a coach and very active. His father died of a heart attack, his mother has had two bypass surgeries and some artery cleanout. Both parents did smoke. But his sister also had a heart attack, his uncles have had bypass surgeries. So it is a genetic thing and the doctor said he has that type A personality. The doctor says he will be on a low dose Zocor long term, plus aspirin and some heart medication. This in itself will be hard for him because he has never taken medicine and I couldn't even get him to take vitamins. So I guess I'm still trying to process all this....why Zocor when his cholesterol isn't that bad, why Toprol when he never had high blood pressure or heart problems. Does he really need it now since the blockage problems or is that just standard protocol. Can naturals "fix" all this? Any body with any answers or similar experience out there......I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks
