Kody's sinus infection won't go away, and today we went to the doc, who

changed him from Ceftin 250 to Augmentin 400 and Amoxicillian 250 at the same

time! He said that soon Augmentin will come out with this combo as kind of a

" mega-augmentin " and that it seems to work well with resistant bacterias.

Just wondered if anyone else has tried this combo, I worry about GI problems

developing under such a heavy dose of antibiotics.

Diane, Mom to Kody age 5, IgG sub. class def., epilepsy, asthma,GERD, sinus

disease and , age 15, age 14, Arika age 13, Kaila age 9, and

age 7...all healthy!

Beth,

Kody first starts his sinus infections with headaches and sinus pressure. He

acts irritable and gets very tired the few days before the snot arrives!

Although lately he doesn't actually get a snotty nose until he is very sick.

Big dark purple rings under his eyes and a cough at night are also first

clues. He doesn't run a fever, I think the last time with that was a couple

years ago when he had the roto virus (it was awful, and we happened to be in

the hospital at the time for something else when he exploded...literally!) So

far today I see no change with the Augmentin/amoxicillian. Thank you to

whoever said that the Augmentin 400 worked for their child (I'm not online

and am writing from memory! Sorry!). It gives me hope! How long did it take

before it worked?

Oh, and thanks to whoever mentioned Judy Ranallo's name and the fact that she

is from Solon, Ohio. As it turns out, my school teacher cousin, does teach

one of Judy's children, not the one with PID but her younger son. Barb, my

cousin, talked to her about Kody and she sent me an absolutely staggering

amount of information, most of which I have never seen before and I

considered myself quite knowledgeable about PID's lately! One thing

interesting, was a CD for the computer, made for kids (geared for 8-12 but

Kody loved it) that explains what it is like to have a PID, what they can do

to keep themselves healthier, and what to tell their friends about it. It is

called " A Day in the Life " put out by the Bayer Pharm. corp. and indorsed by

the IDF. I thought that it would be very helpful in educating teachers,

school friends, and other groups like, oh I dunno, maybe that awful woman

from the Boy Scouts! So sorry to hear about that happening to Mark. Hugs to

him!!!! And to you Autumn!
