Crestor Wrongful Death Lawsuit

November 4, 2005

The death of a young woman who died while taking cholesterol drug

Crestor has prompted a ten count wrongful death lawsuit in federal

court. Pennsylvania resident, is Koenig, claims that her daughter

suffered from rhabdomyolysis and kidney damage as the result of using

Crestor. In October 2003, Amira Koenig fatally collapsed due to the

severity of her Crestor-related injuries.

Crestor is a statin cholesterol drug which has long been connected to

serious side effects including the muscle-ravaging disease called

rhabdomyolysis, kidney failure, and death. Consumer watchdog, Public

Citizen, has battled to get this drug pulled off the market, after

dozens of people have died from Crestor side effects. Crestor's

chemical cousin, Baycol, was pulled off the market due to similar

risks and still AstraZeneca maintains that its drug Crestor is safe

for use.

Through this wrongful death Crestor lawsuit, this grieving mother is

seeking compensatory and punitive damages for the untimely and

drug-related death of her daughter. The Crestor lawsuit claims that

AstraZeneca encouraged the inappropriate use of Crestor despite

knowing the serious risks associated with this cholesterol drug.

AstraZeneca has aggressively marketed Crestor as a " super-statin, "

claiming its benefits are nonpareil. Unfortunately, the main factor

which sets this drug apart from other statins is its life-threatening

kidney toxicity, not its unparalleled benefits.
