Guest guest
I can work them pretty well myself, but who wants to access the internet every time one wants to know the carbohydrate count in a particular food and its amount. Also are there some general rules of thumbs for things like: breads grains vegetables oils meats fish and so on? a quick reference guide to foods in general would be a great help for most of us. I know one can purchase a little hand held calculator for various foods and drinks, but I think it is only accessible by sighted folks. One can also purchase and download the software to their own PC computer, but is that program accessible and useable by the blind? Also does any one know if such a carbohydrate counting book has been placed in e-text, which is readily available to blind people? I just think it would be nice to have a little file in e-text which is easily accessible by all blind people who have a computer, and that is why I would like to have such a reference in my computer. Let me know if you are interested in creating such a file, and I will be glad to assist if the project is too large. , carbohydrate cheat sheet? > > > > , > > I have gone to the web sites you referenced in an earlier post, but > getting > > a list of foods, their quantity and carbohydrate count is not easily > found. > > At least I didn't find such. > > Do you already have a list of various foods with their quantity and > > carbohydrate count readily available? > > If so, would you please insert this information inside a message and post > it > > to this list serve? > > thanks, > > Harry > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
You can download the USDA database of foods and install it locally on your PC and it is very accessible. It's found at this page: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/srch/search.htm , carbohydrate cheat sheet? > > > > > > > , > > > I have gone to the web sites you referenced in an earlier post, but > > getting > > > a list of foods, their quantity and carbohydrate count is not easily > > found. > > > At least I didn't find such. > > > Do you already have a list of various foods with their quantity and > > > carbohydrate count readily available? > > > If so, would you please insert this information inside a message and > post > > it > > > to this list serve? > > > thanks, > > > Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
BTW I've found it useful to keep a record via a word doc of foods I like and their carbs so I don't have to search for them all the time. The initial lookup work took me 30 mins and I just tag ones on as I need them. , carbohydrate cheat sheet? > > > > > > > , > > > I have gone to the web sites you referenced in an earlier post, but > > getting > > > a list of foods, their quantity and carbohydrate count is not easily > > found.

Guest guest
I downloaded that USDA guide and tried to install it, but had to rely on sighted assistance to install the program on my windows xp system. It is complicated, but maybe I will finally figure out how to use this program. It is confusing and difficult to get a quick answer, since there are so many edit fields and combo boxes to navigate. The hellp file is not vvery helpful either. I suppose I , with some sighted assistance will soon figure out how to make it work. I still think a single text file would be the best option for a blind person with a screen reader to navigate. , carbohydrate cheat sheet? > > > > > > > > > > , > > > > I have gone to the web sites you referenced in an earlier post, but > > > getting > > > > a list of foods, their quantity and carbohydrate count is not easily > > > found. > > > > At least I didn't find such. > > > > Do you already have a list of various foods with their quantity and > > > > carbohydrate count readily available? > > > > If so, would you please insert this information inside a message and > > post > > > it > > > > to this list serve? > > > > thanks, > > > > Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Harry, I installed it with no problems using JFW 4.51 on windows xp and can use it quite easy but that is probably because I am use to using the online version. Keep trying, you'll get it. I know others on the list use it as well and but email Dean Masters for his text file of foods with carb information that he posted about earlier today since that is what you are really after. , carbohydrate cheat sheet? > > > > > > > > > > > > > , > > > > > I have gone to the web sites you referenced in an earlier post, but > > > > getting > > > > > a list of foods, their quantity and carbohydrate count is not easily > > > > found. > > > > > At least I didn't find such. > > > > > Do you already have a list of various foods with their quantity and > > > > > carbohydrate count readily available? > > > > > If so, would you please insert this information inside a message and > > > post > > > > it > > > > > to this list serve? > > > > > thanks, > > > > > Harry > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
