This letter is in discussion to Port and his needs. is a healthy 5 1/2 year old boy who has autism. I live in the Trinidad Colorado school district. is elgible for Eckhart. ann Pierce told me Colorado doesnt have to educate children except for ages 7 to 16 but I do believe it would be discriminatory for to be denied the same access as the rest of the children in the neighborhood not alone a IDEA violation. Idea is from ages 3 to 21. Also by law the current IEP is to be in place. In my case has a IEP from Raton NEw Mexico that clearly states 1 hour speech, 1 hour OT and 20 hours special education and 10 hours inclusion. LADIES AND GENTLEMAN THIS IS THE LAW AND I KNOW PAM SAMACK KNOWS IT ALL TOO WELL that until that Raton New Mexico IEP expires Trinidad public schools has to implement this. Now here the current case is as follows. Had a meeting at Eckhart school september 15th. They want to have james go 1 hour and 45 minutes a day for 5 days a week until october 6th when there is another meeting due. NOthing was signed and I agree they need to fill out but we all know 1 hour and 45 minutes is grossely inadequate and that this 15 day implementation period should give them (eckhart school) time to learn how to implement the Raton New MExico IEP. Raton New Mexico has approximately 7000 people whereas Trinidad Colorado has approximately 10,000 people. Rural is not a excuse in my book for not implementing this. Covington at Eckhart school is a very workable person and I would like to see Pam Samack and Ann Pierce work with this school for the positive of all special needs students there not only . The list of individuals listed on this page is the ones receiving the copy of this letter. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
