Guest guest
Bindu and group, I taught categories first. This was more than ten years ago so I may be missing something. The categories were vehicles, furniture, animals and toys. I eliminated toys because some toys might be vehicles or animals. I added two categories:numbers and letters because Colin loved letter and numbers when he was 3YO. I started with a field of two and handed him additional cards to be placed with others in the category. Eventually I labeled paper plates with all the categories, placed all the labeled plates on the table, gave Colin all the cards mixed up and he placed each one is its correct category. Colin learned this very rapidly. It took longer to create the materials than to actually teach it. ,Colin P's mom [ ] Teaching sorting/categories ...which comes first? Dear Listmates, I am trying to teach my son sorting. However I am not sue whether sorting must be taught before teaching categories... Also wondering if I am supposed to teaching sorting how amy items should be in the field during my first trial and whether they should be 2D or 3D items. Any inputs/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, bindu
