Its a longer story, but...right now, we have moved semi-permanently

(for the next four years) to a new community 4 hours from where we

were. We transferred our DS (OCD/GAD) to a new high school. The

school year has begun and, five days in, he spends lunch sitting alone

and has not reached out to anyone, nor has anyone reached out to him.

We even have a built-in contact in a young lady from his school &

grade who lives in our building on the floor below, but after the

first day of introducing him to a couple of people at the bus stop,

(my understanding is) she has more or less left him to himself.

Now, to be fair, he is EXTREMELY shy and introverted and not willing

to put himself " out there " for people to immediately get a sense of

who he is/can be.

So far, it hasn't seemed to have too much effect on his OC, but

Anxiety is high and he seems to be slipping into a bit of depression.

How can we help him? We knew it would be difficult, but...the school

counselors don't seem interested in how he's adjusting. Our immediate

campus community does not have any other male peers. There is a `Y'

right across our parking lot where he has gone, but, again, he just

goes by himself and doesn't talk to anyone.

Any thoughts, ideas or insights?

Thanks so much for any input that might help us get him turned around.

Bill

my daughter didnt have a single friend at school last year, and it was

horrible she spent 3 weeks in the cooks childrens hospital on the

psychiatric ward because she had become so withdrawn and so obsessive I

didnt know what else to do. She came home and still wasnt able to make

friends at school but there was hope, I was able to get to know some of

the neighbors and their kids and even though she didnt have friends at

school...I was able to give her something to look forward to after

school. She was always able to get through the school drama becaause

there was always a friend coming over once everyone got home....It was

tiring on me to host all these children everyday but I knew that her

mental and emotional stability was more important and we still do it to

this day! We put up a trampoline and volleyball net and it wasnt long

we had 1/2 the neighborhood kids on our lawn every night. If he cant

mke friends at school or at church then try hooking him up with some

teens in ur neighborhood! for when he gets out of school. my child is

only 11 but we ended up with kids ranging from 7 to 18 on our lawn

everynight!

good luck to you and your family
