Relating to all the interesting posts on colours. I have always had a

fascination with colours and lights. When I was young I would create

my own innovative disco lights.

I have my own theories which are based on Islamic dream

interpretation especially of Ibn Sireen/ Sirin. I have casually

researched my my theories (not to any scientific/ academic level):

Yellow/ orange (clothing, cars etc) for men means sickness, or

deviance, drug use, esp mental. For women it means fun, happiness.

Light Blue represents a need for relaxation and needing to be free of

stress.

Dark blue represents familiarity with constant or hard work

Purple represents royalty or eccentricity

Black is chosen by those who wish to conceal themselves from others.

It is a defensive colour and warring. It can represnt humility or sin

or dislike for laws. Drug barons and company exectutives favour black

Red is spiritual joy or love for material wealth. it has been found

that women tend to unconsciously wear red during their monthly cycles.

Green represents love for humanity or Islam.

Light represents more fun while dark represents more seriousness for

all colours

Brown represnts multicultural awareness or wisdom

White represents purity, honesty or pride.

For example if a person wants to be seen as being 'open' then he

should wear white or light colours. So the colours we choose

represents how we are or how we wish to be percieved. this works in

the same way as handwriting (Graphology).

Environmental and cultural factors are also important eg a Canadian

may wear a white shirt and red tie for partly nationalistic reasons.

and a person may have 10 different subconscious reasons for choosing

a particular colour. Most people buy second hand cars, so colour is

not so influencing although it has been found that red cars sell

easier. Most likely as red is the colour of material success.

These are just some of my findings, they are not concrete but

flexible. maybe someone else has other suggestions

If any one disagrees then please help.
