What a day. This was an appt. with the Movement Disorder Specialist at the

National Parkinson Foundation Center for Excellence. She had attended the

Washington, D. C. meeting in Feb. To make a long story short, when I asked if

my husband had PDD or LBD, she said, oh, they are still trying to decide . I

thought that there was a consensus, am I wrong? Anyway, whatever he has, it

isn't good. Arlene

Hi Arlene,

That is odd that the doctor who attended the DC

symposium said they are still trying to decide about

LBD Vs PDD. It was the one thing that they had

decided. They are still working on things like if it

is genetic or if it is genetic and an environmental

polution triggers it and things of that nature.

I believe is going to have it soon on the

LBDA.org site about what was discussed and decided at

the Symposium. PDD and LBD were all discussed on the

very first day of the symposium, but they had a

consensus that they were two separate entities for

sure. On the LBDA.org site now if you go to the Home

page and scroll to the bottom tells you that Lewy Body

is a Spectrum of Lewy Body Diseases and names PDD as

one. It says that if Parkinsons precedes dementia by

one year or more it is PDD. I heard that it was

several years or more, but the fact is that it has to

proceed dementia. Jan
