Guest guest
Jeff,You may want to call Ilaria and discuss the different options available with her neoprene wraps. We have used her "inside-out" carpal wrap which has velcro loop on the outside. A custom thermoplastic splint can be made over the wrap and then attached with velcro hook. If a rigid support is too much, you can apply a velcro strap anywhere on the outside of the wrap to provide stability. We have found these to be very versatile and time saving.Ria Acciani MPT Acciani PTAdvanced Canine Rehabilitation6 Kenquit RoadWarren, NJ 07059I have a 9 year old Wiemaraner that has mild to moderate carpal hyperextension form a chronic injury. There is no pain elicited and the dog is still very active. The dog has also has mild hind end paresis so there is increased stress on the carpi. I am wondering if anybody has any recent success with rigid braces as i don't know if a neoprene wrap will be enough. Having said that if anybody has had any success with the wraps with some extra support I would like to hear about it. I am thinking of the canine icer carpal wrap to try with rigid support. Thanks for any thoughts.-- Jeff Bowra DVMCertified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner26841 Fraser HighwayAldergrove, BC, Canada
Guest guest
I had a similar case and the therapaw carpal wraps ordered specifically with extra support really worked well for the dog I was treating. Ilaria was able to make it so that you could wean them off the extra support and then off the wrap. Good luck, ________________________ www.evelynvet.com evelynvet@... Guest guest
We have had good results with Dogleggs carpal wraps - even for large dogs. It is a soft neoprene wrap - but lots of support. It seems the dogs have tolerated these better than the rigid supports.
