Guest guest
I REALLY want to keep him in underwear all the time and encourage him using and increasing the newly acquired skill in the natural environment. I believe most of his schools he has learned at home, and it takes awhile to utlize them elsewhere. most of his " skills " not " schools "
Guest guest
, This is most likely NOT behavioral, but rather medical. I would suggest you take him to see Dr. Arthur Krigsman, who specializes in treatment of GI issues in kids with autism. There is a large subgroup of ASD kids who do this, and he has found that with proper treatment, these symptoms will abate. He will sit and do a wee but when it comes to doing a bm he has to stand up. I have had him checked out medically but he is fine. I believe he has just gotten into a bad habit of standing up somewhere in the house to do his thing. We have been working on this off and on over the last couple of years. We have had behaviour anaylists involved. We have tried the shaping process where we try to get him standing as close to the toilet as possible to do his thing, the idea being that one day he will learn to stand in the toilet with his pull up on and do a bm, then gradually train him to sit on the toilet etc. But he just resists, he can't seem to relax. We have tried laxatives and enamas but he can just hold it in. We have visuals, reinforcers etc... He is now 9 years old and has got used to standing up to do a bm - it would not be comfortable for him to sit down and do a bm. We are getting really desperate. My friend has suggested giving him a cold shower, or something aversive after he has messed his pullups to try and teach him that pooing in his pants is naughty. I have loads of data on his toileting behaviours but nobody seems to know what to do with it. Has anybody got any ideas of what we should be doing as nobody seems to know what to do anymore. Regards, .
