Guest guest
> > i know biceps. can anyone tell me what is meant by triceps? > The triceps is the companion muscle to the biceps. It works in tandem with the biceps. For example when the biceps contracts and grows shorter the triceps elongates. This is an example of a reciprocal movement. The triceps as the name implies is composed of three heads unlike the biceps which has two.Of the two muscles the triceps is about one sixteenth larger. The anatomical function of the triceps is that it acts as an extensor of the elbow joint. This is just a fancy way of saying that it extends the forearm. Thus all movements in which the elbow joint is extended from a bench press to a push up involves muscular action provided by the triceps. These are of course just some well known examples as a little thought once the anatomical function is understood will provide you with other examples. In passing I should point out that anyone trying to improve the size of their arms should not just focus on the biceps but work the triceps also.Hope this helps.Ed
Guest guest
Triceps are made of three components (hence, triceps) and, together, are much larger than the biceps. So, for those really big arms, you gotta develop those triceps.
