Guest guest
I am alive. I have been extremely busy since I have been back as I have done double shifts (staff on holidays). I managed to put in 60 hrs in just one week (well some was owed to me from last pay and I did attend a conference for work on Saturday.) I have not forgotten about all of you and have been reading some messages but they are accumulating faster than I can read them. I have a terrible cold that my son shared with me last week (he was on reading week and home from Windsor, Ont.) I am now quite sick (immunity must have been low with the go, go, go) with a cough and cold and have my period to boot. There is no one to visit mom either, as my aunt is in Florida for the month and my husband is gone on business across Canada this week. The last time I saw her she said " I am worried you are going to leave me. " I told her I would be there for her and the only one who could stop me was God. I told her that I might have to work and might not get around to see her for a day or two but that I would be there for her until she dies. This seemed to make her feel better. Now, I am faced with what to do today, as I haven't been to see her since Friday, and then it wasn't the best visit as it was in the afternoon and she was sleepy and in bed. I had the conference on Sat and then Sun felt yucky so stayed away. I haven't forgotten that I promised to hold another meeting in Toronto. I was thinking of Sunday March 18th, from 1pm to 3pm. Let me know if you are able to make it by sending me an email to skward2@.... Thanks for thinking of me . Kath in Toronto /Ed wrote: Has anyone heard from Kath since the Washington Symposium? Kath - I am sure you are busy catching up - but a quick post to let us know you got home OK would be great. Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Guest guest
Good to hear from you Kath. I had been wondering about you as well. Sorry to hear you are feeling so yucky. I understand how it feels to not be able to visit Mom. Does she remember when you've been there? I know my mother feels abandoned by her support group, so I put up a white board in her room asking friends to sign when they visit so I can reinforce to Mom that she has not been forgotten. She forgets who has been in, it is good for me to see just how often her old friends still visit. When I can't get in because of illness I ask a couple of those friends to visit and let her know I will return when better. I also call staff to give her messages. Not sure she remembers them either, but at least It's worth a try! My calendar shows March 18 to be Saturday. Which day were you thinking of? This time I will be better able to judge time and distance! , Oakville > Has anyone heard from Kath since the Washington Symposium? > > Kath - I am sure you are busy catching up - but a quick post to let us > know you got home OK would be great. > > > > > > > > Welcome to LBDcaregivers. > > >
