Reinforcement is a basic principle of applied behavior analysis and is essential

in helping individuals to learn new skills. This workshop will provide an

introduction to the basic principles of reinforcement, with a focus on how

reinforcement is used to increase the acquisition and fluent use of new

behaviors. Topics covered will include identifying and selecting possible

reinforcers, assessment of the reinforcing value of items and activities, and

strategies for incorporating the use of reinforcement into home, school, and

therapy settings. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn how

to increase the reinforcing value of items and activities and how to use

schedules of reinforcement to control the rate and frequency of behaviors.

The workshop is appropriate for parents, teachers, other professionals, and

anyone interested in learning more about the basic principles of Applied

Behavior Analysis. Continuing Education Credits are available through TSHA for

Speech and Language Pathologists who attend the workshop (5.5 CEUs).

Certificates of Attendance will be provided to all participants.

The workshop will be presented by Beth Husband, M.S., BCBA and Bednar,

B.S., BCABA. Beth Husband is the Center Director at Spectrum of Hope. She is a

Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a Masters Degree in Behavior Analysis and

Therapy. She has more than 5 years experience in the field of behavior analysis.

Bednar is the Director of Therapy and Training at Spectrum of Hope. She

is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst and has more than 8 years

experience in the field of behavior analysis.
