> This workshop will cover the basic elements of B. F. Skinner’s analysis of

> verbal behavior as a conceptual basis for language assessment and intervention

> for children with autism. DAY 1 (THURSDAY) The first day will focus on

> language analysis and assessment, and beginning a language intervention

program

> for a child with autism who has a vocabulary of less than 50 words or signs.

> Topics will include early mand training, defective mands, vocal development

> through mand frames, automatic and direct reinforcement procedures, and echoic

> training procedures. In addition procedures for teaching tacts, receptive

> language, and matching to sample will be presented.

DAY 2 (FRIDAY)

The second day of the workshop will focus on more advanced skills such as

advanced manding, intraverbal and RFFC training (listener skills), beginning

sentences, and the use of reading as a teaching tool. A new sequence

(curriculum)

of these advanced verbal skills will be presented. Additional topics discussed

over the two-day workshop will include staff training, behavior problems,

vocal development, classroom design, IEPS, augmentative communication,

inclusion,

peer interaction, self-stimulation, common teaching errors, and the power of

Behavior Analysis as an ongoing conceptual tool to guide the intervention

program.

Continuing Eduction Certifications or Continuing education hours will be

provided. Information will be posted as available
