Guest guest
Ray: I could be WAY off, but I thought you might check. I just took my 7yo (Kyp) in for being hoarse for 2 months now (no other symptoms), the ENT seems to think the best bet is that it is GERD!? I thought maybe with her complaints of stomach problems and the hoarseness it might be worth asking! This is a new one on me so I could be totally wrong! Hope she gets better!! Guest guest
I figured it out! Thrush! My child care provider found some inside her mouth and we suspect her throat is completely covered in it and that's why she sounds so hoarse. It is just beginning to get into her cheeks and on her tongue, so that must be it--I don't know why I didn't think of it at first. She had six antibiotic shots and with meds. that strong, she was bound to get it. Ray
Guest guest
: I agree with Destiny that you should ask your ENT about GERD/Reflux since ALOT of kids with Asthma, Chronic Sinusitis & allergies have reflux & it often goes undiagnosed for a peroid of time until everything else has been ruled out. It did with us!! Good Luck! Beth At 01:03 PM 8/4/00 EDT, you wrote: > Ray: > >I could be WAY off, but I thought you might check. Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions about GERD. The next time we go in I'll ask her ped. if he thinks it's a possibility. He suggested it once a long time ago, but she never really had any other symptoms except the acute asthma. Hopefully, the Nystatin will work on the thrush and make the throat better. The nurse practitioner called me back just before lunch and feels like the thrush and the Xopenex treatments are doing it, but she advised me to check in on Monday. This will help restore some of the good bacteria the antibiotics killed off. My son's immunologist highly recommends this. It might be worth mentioning to your Doctor. Guest guest
, I have noticed my daughter get hoarse sounding before she gets the asthma symptons or I see any allergy or cold symptons. It tells me to watch out for the asthma and illness. It may be drainage in her throat, but I don't know. Guest guest
, Is Acidophilus available over the counter? It's a product I'm not familiar with. What else do you know about it?
