Hi!

I am so sorry about your dad, and sorry you are having to go through this.

It is so hard to put a time frame on LBD. My dad has been sick for a long

time like your dad has. I have been feeding him for about 5 years, and he has

had a pretty good appetite until about the last ten months. I think as long

as they are eating, either on their own or being fed, there is no expectation

that the end is necessarily near. My Dad has lost about 60 pounds and has

pretty much quit accepting food. The doctor seems to think Dad is at the end

because of the not taking food. Who knows, he may begin eating again - the

roller coater ride in Lewy Land. Let us know how you and your dad are doing

when you have time.

Hugs,

Piper

donna there is no way to predict death with lbders, my dad was a prime

example we all thought he was in the mid stages of lbd and then all of a

sudden he was gone. the best thing i can tlell you is to cherish each

fleeting moment of good and put the bad behind you, love and touch as much

as possible because i think that deep down in depths of lbd they can feel

/hear/sense our love, hugs sharon

-- latter stages

My dad (81) has had LBD for apx 7 years. He has progressed to the

point where he is asleep or at least eyes are closed most of the

time. Everything must be done for him. Right now he has a cold and

they wanted to give him Clariden (to which I said no) He never

believed in meds for simple things and either do I.

Question is since he still eats (when fed) does anyone know how long

he lasts here or is he within a 6 mos window of the end??

Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
