Hi ,

I use the Voice Mate and find it easier to use than the One-Touch. It takes

less blood and the comfort curve strips make it easy to find where the blood

goes. My problem-with any glucose meter-is that I can hardly make myself

bleed and it often takes several pokes to get enoguh blood for even the

Voice mate. The Voice mate is bigger than the one touch and I hate carrying

it around like another purse. If you do take it out, it is very temperature

sensitive to heat or cold.

hi listers, I am sorry if this is off topic but, I remembered there being

people hhere on the list saying that they had, or have used a voicemate. I

was thinking of getting one, and wanted to find out more about this from

somebody that has used one. thanks alot. charles

Hi . In Canada, we are only able to use the Voicemate on an

experimental basis so far. Since beginning the programme last March, I have

experienced more independence than ever before. Now, as soon as taking a

reading, I know exactly what it is and how I should adjust eating to

accommodate the sugar levels. I would be more than happy to tell you more

about the Voicemate ... just E-mail me at my home E-mail address. Bill.

I have been using the Voicemate for 3 or so years, and I am completely

satisfied with how easy it makes using the Accuchek Advantage. To the best

of my knowledge, the accuracy of the Advantage meter is as good as portable

bg meters get. The comfort curve strips it uses are easy to get the sample

on, and a bonus is that you never, that is never, have to clean the meter

because the blood never touches the machine. I never need to use it, but

the Voiemate has the capability to read the insulin bottle and tell you what

type of insulin it is. If I could complain about anything, it is that the

synth is a little large, perhaps 6in. x 3 in. x 3 in., and you can not

download the readings from the particular meter I have. I happen to also

have a newer Advantage and you can download the readings. This newer meter

is shaped slightly different and will not plug into the Voicemate. However,

my guess is that the newer Voicemates will have the newer meter.

I just got this meter! I heard that they have two different soft ware

packages, though. One is free and the other costs $30. Not to mention

the cable which is another $20. Has anyone used the soft ware, and

which one is most accessible with Jaws?

I found a freeware program that I use to print my readings out for my endo.

I could attach it to an email to you privately, but there are probably a

number of freeware programs pout there I would imagine. I managed to get

the cable for free from the local representative, but don't know if you

would be able to have the same experience. The program I use is accessible

I believe, but I really don't have much experience with it since I only use

it to print out my readings.

Hello, ,

Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. Hope you are okay now. yes, I

didn't understand what you meant. I often buy the Parrot Plus Voice mate

for my clients-and I have one myself. It does cost over $200, but is still

cheaper than a Braille Light. You can keep memos on i, appointments, phone

number and it has a calculator too! They are available thgough maxi Aids

and can come with a cable so you can download your informatin int the

computer.
