Guest guest
A WW friend recently gave me several WW & Sansone VHS tapes she had collecting dust in her house and, since I'm on a mission to do virgin workouts and none of the ones I've had waiting longer appealed to me today, I decided to try this one. It is from 1995 and is led by Aileen Sheron, who I've never heard of. It is a step workout, probably of high beginner/intermediate intensity. There are intervals of toning in between segments of stepping. The toning segments all use the step too, some in creative ways, some in not so effective ways but it was interesting. I was very surprised at the variety of steps she throws into the combinations. I think there's 5 or so combos with scultping in between each so none of the combinations are linked though she does use some of the same steps in several combinations. She builds the combinations very quickly and I found myself lost a few times but most of it was simple enough that I was able to jump back in fairly well after watching a bit. Someone who is very comfortable with choreography & stepping would have no problem following it. The sculpting portions use light weights. I tried 5s but she goes fast so they were too much for some of the shoulder work so I dropped to 4s but then those weren't heavy enough for other segments. She gives very little instruction on the sculpting though she gives more for the stepping. The pace is pretty good overall, it is all low impact and the music is good. Aileen is okay. She doesn't introduce her backgrounders and seemed slightly condescending towards them (though I can't recall why I felt that way now) but overall she was enthusiastic (without being obnoxious) and fun. I wasn't in my training zone much but I think that is more because of learning the steps and the frequent toning intervals. I had the step and one riser and I think with another set of risers especially (once I get the choregraphy down more) it could be a better overall workout. I enjoyed it and will keep it to do again sometime.
