Guest guest
Dear All, Just wanted to post about this because it is so simple and something I never thought of. I thought it might help someone else. , my quite severely Autistic daughter has woken almost every night for the last can't rememeber how many years at between 3 and 4pm. She starts singing at first quite quietly, but it then gets louder and louder and she starts hitting herself on the head and biting her wrists. When my husband or I go in to help she attacks us - nipping and biting. She also has cramps in her feet. This behaviour is out of character and doesn't happen during the day. We have thought it might be night terrors, liver detox kicking in, mild seizures - all sorts of things; but recently I have been looking at hypothyroidism and alot of things have been clicking into place. One of the websites mentioned these children often wake around 3-5pm due to low blood sugar. It suggested nuts especially brazil nuts as a good snack although i suspect a protein/carb combination would work equally well. When woke last night, and was about to attack us, I presented her with a small handful of nuts, which she controlled herself and ate. She calmed down within about 20 seconds and sung herself gently off to sleep. Wonderful! Apologies for the length of my post and if i am telling you something you already know, but for anyone who hadn't thought of this it worked like a charm where supplements, homeopathy and massage have failed. I recently posted whether anyone could recommend a good thyroid glandular. I have not had any replies yet. If anyone can help please let me know as we are taking to the doctors for the test next week and I want to be as knowledgable as possible. I know what our doctors are like! Many thanks, Best wishes, .X
