Guest guest
Dear JanetI know that some of the big companies like Solgar are having some of their vits and minerals approved, however it is a very expensive process. Talk about an infringement of civil liberties. I contact Liberty to ask what they are doing about this.. and they replied that they do not have the money to deal with something like this. Unfortunately this process has been kept fairly low key and our rights have been taken from us .. with the direction of Big Pharma i fear. When I spoke to our local health shop they said that they can sell their existing stocks of things, however when this is gone, they cannot sell the products unless they have been licensed. At the moment it is still very uncertain just how significantly it will affect us as there has also been some talk about limiting the strength of some things.. I have also heard of other companies rebranding stuff to food supps which can avoid this directive. I have written to my MP too.. though have had little response.Tracey Hi,Does anyone what vits and minerals will be effected by the eu directive that comes into force at some point next year concerning vits/minerals? Mandi do you have a list or any knowledge of what will go? I rang nutricentre earlier to chase up some zinc lozenges (animal parade ones) i was told that whilst these are on the way, once they've sold existing stock then they'd i couldn't get anymore. I was surprised and asked why and apparently it contains slippery elm so that was banned by the eu herbal ban in May. It's got me thinking about what will go next year - am worried because am wondering how bio-med will continue. Mandi - do you know how all this will effect your business also? Guest guest
Hi Tracey,Thanks -so as things stand there is no definitive list of what is to be outlawed? Yes it is an infringement - what bothers me also is that even if we can buy certain things or(if finances allow) import from US i don't know what effect directive will have on accessing nutritional therapists advice as they may not be able to advise on therapautic doses under directive- their hands will be tied? Yes had heard about rebranding as food supps for somethings but I think other things have to be added to come under this which could cause probs. for sensitive children who react to certain things not currently in supplmnts. In terms of limiting strength i wonder how watered down things will have to be.JanetTo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: thelifechangers@...Date: Mon, 18 Jul 2011 12:11:46 +0100Subject: Re: eu diirective Dear JanetI know that some of the big companies like Solgar are having some of their vits and minerals approved, however it is a very expensive process. Guest guest
I think what will be interesting is to see how the other EU countries deal with this.. Germany has a unique stand in that when we have used their GPs we have always had herbal or homeopathic things first and as a last resort mainstream meds. And traditionally many EU countries sign up to things and then ignore them completely when it does not suit them. I think that there is a concern about what will be allowed into the EU from USA.. and I cannot think for one moment that USA will continue to allow non mainstream meds to continue for that long either. Perhaps the way forward is to contact the manufacturers of the things which you know work and are safe and ask what their take is on EU directive and if they have a long shelf life, perhaps to bulk buy... It is not the sort of oppression which I would have expected to have happen in UK.The strengths of some of the vits were ridiculous when I heard last.. amazing as there have been NO deaths from overdoses of prescribed levels of vits.. and several hundreds of thousands of people from side effects of Big Pharma Meds... amazing.
