Hi Sara!

Nice to " see " someone new -- to me, at least! I just started getting in to

exercise videos last fall. I was an avid walker for quite a while before that,

but they just didn't seem " enough. " I joined this group to get information on

what videos were good/bad, etc., and I found a bunch of new friends, too!

I like that " hungry-girl " site! It has a lot of really good food ideas! I was

very lucky to marry into a health-conscience family, as my own family is pretty

poor, fitness wise. DH and MIL have taught me a lot about cooking and exercise,

but it seems I'm only now really " getting it. "

It helped that my parents moved in with us about two years ago. Their health is

horrible due to poor choices in their lifetimes -- MIL and FIL are both going

strong. (FIL hits 80 this year, and he just took my son on a 30 mile bike ride

last weekend.) My in-laws are a living example of what a difference you can make

in your own health, while my parents are a warning sign...

Anyway, I'm glad to meet another exercise fanatic!

(And I was only half-joking about the calorie-free snacks!!)

filling, and have no calories. Something like " Cinnamon Cardboard Crunch " or

" Poly Beans " (made of inert polymer plastic) or " Shredded Straw " nuggets. If

they can come up with sugar and starch things that taste good, why not

indigestible cellulose fibers and plastics? Just have them pass right through

the system, maybe even doing some of the scrubbing action of regular fiber...

Hi Indyrose,

Thanks! Yep, this group is great for info, support, enabling - and more. lol

Sometimes Hungry Girl goes a bit overboard on the processed food replacements,

but some of her tips are really clever so I'm glad I started watching her tv

show (on the Cooking Channel). I have some of her cookbooks, but the show tips

often stick in my head better.

It sounds like you have been doing great with the new healthy lifestyle. Sorry

to hear that your parents aren't doing well, but at least it helps to solidify

your good choices, I guess. :) And there's no better exercise buddy than an

eager dog! What's your girl's name again? Our youngest pup is only about two,

and we adopted him last Spring. He's a bundle of energy, and I don't have a

choice but to keep him exercised so he doesn't aggrivate the 9 and 10 year old

pups. :)

Well, I wouldn't say I'm an exercise fanatic - that's Darcy, , Donna, and

now , too...Heh. I didn't start doing any kind of exercise until I was 20

years old and out on my own - and I've been sporadic ever since. I just keep

trying new things to see what sticks. ;)
