Guest guest
hello all, many of our newcomers and some of our longtime memebers have now come ot the point that their lo's need help with bathing and you ar having hospice come in to help or some other aid, that is wonderful and i support it. the only i want to tell everyone is just because our loved ones have lbd that some of them still have embarassment or feel privacy is important, my dad was that way when we started with hospice. i found this site called personalcarewear no spaces that has what they call the honor guard garment. they have them for men and women. it is lightblue waterproof like a soft windbreaker witha fish net inside like in mens bathing suits, that wraps around the body with velcro straps and also has a terry cloth outer wrap available at addtional price which i recommend as well. anyway, my dad was wrapped around like a tarzan wrap would. and yet it could very easily be lifted up and the caregiver could wash him without actually seeing his privates, and the fishent layer would allow the water to rinse off and be clean. this enabled dad to not be embarassed and when she took the terry cloth wrap and put it on dad, she would take the wet one off and hang it in the bathrrom to dry and then dad would still be covered with this terry cloth velcroed around his waist. this would allow him to safely walk back into the bedrrom as we opted to have dad standing ni front of his bed when he changed in case he started to fall we could try to push him backwardson to the bed instead and yes we did that wseveral times thankfully. the link is www.personalcarewear.com if that doesnt work just put personalcarewear into your google search and it should pull it up there, hugs sharon m a smile a day, keeps the meanies away!!!!
