Yes we did and to a point, still do although he can now take an awful lot more than he used to. If we go over the top to the amount he can take we do not see immediate problems but they build up over a couple of days ultimately turning into massive tantrums. Takes a couple of days to bring him back down to normal again by reducing the extra amount.

We did find however, that if we give more magnesium it offsets the effects of the zinc.

PS We use Brainchilds Zinc

Hi - am still trying to get supplements in prior to starting chelation. In the past we have had bad behaviour problems with zinc and have had to stick to quite low doses (used bio care zinc ascorbate and one extra drop used to have adverse effects). I am trying optizinc (zinc monomethionine)- but am not sure about this yet - we are having behav probs (but as ever could be a number of reasons for this). Just wondered if anyone else had a zinc sensitive kid and what type had suited them best. Thanks Sue

Couple of things about this, I definitely see some constipation with Zinc, quite dark and firm stools which in itself can cause rage, very unusual for us to see constipation with ,only happening with Zinc, but also there has been some discussion elsewhere about possible problems with Zinc if the child has viral issues, for certain it's a supp we have to be really careful with, and yes, give with food. I give it to my other son as part of KPU and he does sometimes complain about stomach ache which usually means me stopping Zinc just short of symptoms reccuring.
