Guest guest
I had a good day for workouts. I walked 3 miles along the waterfront during lunch because I knew after this evening's leg pummeling I wouldn't be able to walk for 3-4 days. I enjoyed observing the runners pass me by, remarking to myself on some quirky gaits and also admiring several senior runners who could surely leave me in the dust. I hope when I'm a senior I'll be running at a nice clip too! Super inspiring.I snuck out of work a tad early and arrived at Fitness early. was there with the trainer who will never talk to me or look me in they eye (really I must be *that* frightening) but no sign of Noel so I laid down on a leg curl machine in reclined cross-legged pose, hands folded across my chest. Around 5 minutes later I see out of the corner of my eye two large bear claws move toward me and I was able to grab them in time and escaping what could have been a fatal tickle attack (I'm hyper, hyper ticklish) we laughed and he pulled me up off the machine and ordered me on to the one I hate the most, Mr. Hack Squat. Mercifully he had a funny story to tell to help pass the time about a 19 year old he was supposed to train for a local contest (Noel is an official judge at these events) and he was honest with him and said he was too fat and how his mom got all bent out of shape about that and what transpired after that. Poor Noel is doing them a favor by telling them the truth but it just never seems to go over well..At my second most hated machine, Ms. Standing Squat, " The Sound of Silence " by Simon and Garfunkel came on and Noel exclaimed, " Oh! I love this song! " I do too, I saw them a few years ago here in Portland and the Everly Brothers, whom Simon and Garfunkel admire, opened up for them. He even sang a few bars of it!Madame Leg Press at around 200 lbs also sucked but it was over before I knew it and the rest - hamstrings and shoulders - was relatively easy. I wasn't ready to leave so I shook out my beat up legs on one of the recumbent bikes way in back by the employee area, which looked kind of like a bachelor pad kitchen of sorts, and as you can imagine, a shelf with a variety of supplements. The newest bike of the three that I picked looked to be circa 1981 but did the trick. I rode for 30 minutes at level 20 for around a half hour, til I supposedly burned 500 calories. I went to the MMA room to stretch and lo and behold, no one was there! I took my shoes off (no shoes allowed on the wrestling mats) and did three sets of 100 jumpropes before stretching. I'm beat and I know that by 4:00 tomorrow I will be feeling every footstep, especially going down stairs. Can't wait for chest and triceps on Thursday!
