Guest guest
I don't have any experience trying Prozac on my child, but I watched my mum taking it on and off for 15 (!) years. It didn't make any difference to her anxiety levels as far as I am concerned, it worked more as a security blanket and I really think this drug is addictive. I also feel it made her more depressed at times. She stopped it completely when she was diagnosed with cancer in December 2009 and went through standard chemo and radiotherapy treatment without any mood lifting drug. She got a bit depressed at one point and I sent her GABA, Inositol (from Mandi) and St 's Wort. She called me 2 weeks later and said that it made a huge difference and that she didn't feel so well in years. I read that Prozac can make some people really depressed and suicidal. I don't think I would like to switch anxiety with depression. Kasia
Guest guest
Steph, Have you tried Neuroprotek? Jane Our paed is suggesting we trial this. Does anyone have any experience with it for their child? It didn't work for my mother in law, or brother in law but I wondered if anyone had had good experience. I don't think his incredible stress levels can be helping his well being or digestion. He's gained weight from being on risperidone but the effects of that are definitely wearing off. It feels like a very adult drug for a boy who may be almost 13 but is physically only about 11! I'm not anti prescription meds at all, it just feels like a big step. Any experience?
