Hi Steve - Good points and you are correct that most supplement manufacturers market L-Arginine and L-Ornithine together for synergistic effect. I may have mentioned that my area of specialty is amino acid therapy so I feel fairly comfortable offering advice in this area. L-Histidine was considered a aphrodiasc (sp) by many African Medicine men.

I also recommend Magnesium to increase potency for men.

I will copy Sheldon Tessel to research the herb to increase Testosterone levels.

BTW, I use a fairly good supplement put out by Swanson Products. http://www.swansonvitamins.com-----Original Message----- From: steve Sent: Aug 21, 2005 1:21 AM While there are dangerous herbals available, for the most part it is very difficult to screw up with them. Yohimbe is something I've never tried but I too have run into articles about it's down side. I take about 50 supplements a day but I've never taken anything for the sexual stimulate effect nor has anything I've taken produced such an effect. I have taken L-arginine in doses as high as 16 grams a day for blood pressure control and now take only 8 grams a day for general arterial health etc. At age 40 while trying to figure out why I was tired all the time, I convinced a doctor to test for testosterone levels. Since I had an active sex life, he was reluctant. The results came back as me having T levels lower than a 70 year old man which confused the poor guy. Injections brought me to the level of a 20 year old man but again no sexual side effects were noted. Nevertheless, testosterone injections (or patches) do help many men who would like to get back some of their youth. It is difficult to raise T levels with supplemention alone and the Life Extension Foundations makes a very good case for getting one's T levels up into the high normal range. While Testosterone helped me get some energy back, it was the four stints that opened up my arteries that gave me back the ability to stay awake and alert all day. There is also an herb that raises testosterone levels somewhat but the name eludes me at the moment.I would recommend though that L-Histidine is effective in improving orgasms particularly in women. There has also been some discussion of late on the sci.life-extension usenet internet group about L-Histidine being able perhaps to break down some forms of AGE "Advanced Glycation Endproducts" that occurs with aging so it's benefits might be extensive. There are longer reports on the web but here is the short marketing blurb from the same beyond-a-century.com site.<being quote>L-Histidine, USP, precursor of histamine. It may aid in the digestion of protein, is essential to growth & repair of tissues and red blood cells, and may help autoimmune disorders. Cuts fat, depresses appetite, and aids in removal of heavy metals from the body. Studies show it increases arousal in both sexes, and increases ease, frequency, & intensity of orgasm in females when taken about an hour before sex. Also works wonders for older males who have difficulty reaching orgasm. For best results take with B6 and niacin.
