His addiction started with Ritalin, then went to sleeping pills, downers, and tons and tons of opiates which made him so constipated he had something like 30 pounds of you know what in his gut! The sheer number of pills he was taking in a day would've killed a normal person. He was completely out of it in the end. I saw one of his last concerts and he was a bloated doped up joke!!!!! Guest guest
What I remember from back when Elvis died, his doctor was investigated. I don't know what happened to him. The news stories were that he was one of a number of doctors who catered to stars and rich giving them anything and everything. He didn't have a normal practice - he just wrote out prescriptions for controlled substances. I remember too that the cause of death was from all the pills Elvis popped into his mouth but it was not ruled as intentional suicide. Guest guest
I cannot agree with this point better. I still believe we as a society need to be educators. As a clinician, I work with so many clients who want the drugs, they would rather do that than to do soul searching and or alternatives....yep... perhaps do some real emotional work, gee what a concept! ....and even after reading the labels, they would rather take a chance with the quick fix, side effects and possible death rather than feel......Despite that..... Passing the word, and letting people know they have the power to heal without chemicals is a great place to begin, and groups like this really do bring about a wonderful awareness....... I agree when the demand dries up so will the pharma's, meanwhile, we live in a quick fix society, so I doubt I will see it in my time..... As far as Elvis, he was not a victim. Before I got my degrees and a real job in a real life, I toured in a rock and roll band for many many years. Drugs really were part of the scene back then. I needed something for stage, something to come down, something to get up, Cool thing was Dr's were more than willing to write out the script, and then the other drugs like cocaine and what nots were easy to get from you fans or following..........I knew what I was doing, and I also knew when to check in and finally get sober, I believe so did Elvis.....he knew what he was doing and should have taken full responsibility for his behaviors.......ahhhhh but you know the addict, never our fault, always someone else's.......... Guest guest
Elvis, a really nice and kind person from all who knew him was poisoned to death. I don't know the details of the drugs or the side effects but they were mostly psychiatric type drugs. Most (if not all) pills that are street drugs were psychiatric drugs first. Yes, the real question is: was he a victim of psychotropic chemical side effects?

Guest guest
The issue comes down to whether we are sheep or self responsible for what we put in our mouths. People have unrealistic expectations of their doctors. They want an easy fix (pill) to whatever ails them. I see it on these boards all the time with perscriptions and with supplements. Go back to the hearings at the FDA over these drugs. There were all these many protesting but there were also all those many who want the drugs. Bottom line is that there is supply only when there is demand. And when the demand dries up, so will the companies supplying such garbage. Guest guest
, I like your thinking. It really does get down to personal responsibilty. I think people just don't know or can't believe that it can go so terribly wrong blindly trusting the medical industry. Guest guest
I'm really getting tired of being told it was my responsibility to see to it that I wasn't harmed by the drugs presribed to me by my doctor. Every doctor I went to wanted to give me a quick fix pill. When I objected and said I were prefer to find out what the problem was first, I was informed that this was standard procedure, that this was how they treated patients. I complained constantly about them treating symptoms instead of finding the cause. I wasn't the expert, they were. I'm not a doctor because I don't want to be a doctor. I have no interest in this area. But I have had to learn anyway because I now know I can't trust the experts. If this is going to be the case, why do we even have doctors. > The issue comes down to whether we are sheep or self responsible for what we > put in our mouths. Guest guest
Well, i'm a big fan of Elvis, even if he is dead. His voice was to die for and he reminded me a lot of my dad. Elvis had the biggest heart. Unlike most of the snobs who were greedy with their fortunes. He was also in the army where they tend to give lot's of vaccinations. Could he have been a victim like my son? Could the vaccinations have caused OCD or something worse and then he self medicated? Maybe. Was it the stress in combination with the vaccines and his life style? Who knows! Some people are biochemically balanced enough to pull it together. Some are not. Addiction *IS* a disease (however it started), just like cancer and should be seen as such. As pathetic as the disease can be, addicts are very sick people and should be seen as sick. How arrogant can we be, to think that all of us can or should just snap out of a disease like addiction? Especially when we have so much setting us up to fail like mercury, alumunium and all the other trash they are putting into our vaccines, our food, our water and our air. Our battles are not with Elvis, they are with this mean spirited system of things. And our *ONLY* hope is with God's system that will replace this one. Connie (Revelation 21:2-4) . . .. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
