I have not used one, but a friend of mine uses hers for pork chops and

steaks, and I believe she has used them for grilled cheese sandwiches.

The Foreman grill is great with steaks and pork chops, too!

I have three and love them all, no I actually only have two now because I

gave one to a friend who broke hers. They are good for cooking all kinds

of meat, including but not necessarily limited to chicken, pork chops,

sausage and bacon! You can also grill vegies on them and they are quite

good too. Get one, you'll love it and it will eliminate a lot of the fat

that is in meat! LaWanda

Thank you LaWanda. These ideas all sound great. My sil always asks

what I want for Christmas and I sure am considering a Forman grill.

Hi Rita,

I have a similar grill, and I use it for everything, vegetables, chicken,

chops, steaks, etc.

The only thing which you can not cook on mine, is eggs.

If you are a braille reader, you can get the Foreman grilling recipe

book from NBP, which contains great recipes.

Enjoy!!

Yes I have had a lot of experience with the Foreman Grill. I have

one and have used them for at least 4 years. I cook burgers, pork chops,

chicken, steaks, bacon and sliced vegetables on it. I have also cooked

French toast on the Foreman. I wouldn't be without a Foreman

Grill in my kitchen. I think it is a very worthwhile investment.

I've used several different Foreman grills, did not care for them. They

are kind of nice for sausages, but they do not get hot enough to really

duplicate the effect of char grilling at all. However, for rainy days,

they work quite well, unless you are like me and will grill outdoors in any

weather.

Thanks for that info Dan. I was not aware the Forman grill came in many

different types. Also, is it imersable for cleaning? Rita

Hi,

I've used the Foreman grill in the past, and was very happy with it

overall. The only thing I didn't like is that eventually the nonstick

surface came off, and everything I tried to cook would stick to both the top

and bottom surfaces. I was always very careful when cleaning it, but this

happened with the two Foremans I owned.

Now, I have something similar by Hamilton-Beach. I love this grill because

you can remove the heating elements and actually wash them.

I've cooked chicken, steaks, fish, pretty much anything that I used to cook

in the oven. Not that I don't use my oven anymore, but this is much faster.

Hope this helps.

Oh thank you Eve. Ease of cleaning is nice. I don't suppose that

non/stick coating is easy on the digestion either! > Smile.

Is the Foreman grill expensive?

Rita, no, you may not immerse the Foreman grill, and that is my biggest

gripe. If you clean it without a lot of soap, it remains greasy to the

touch, and since you can't immerse it, you end up making quite a mess.

There is another grill manufactured by Black and Decker that has removable

grill plates, it is larger than the smallest Foreman, but not as large as

the bigger ones. It gets hotter than the Foreman and I use one. With the

removable grill plates, it is much easier to clean. I got one at Wall-Mart.

Depends on what your price range is, I got the largest one and I think it

cost around $100. You can find smaller sizes, however, for less money and

they should be quite adequate. LaWanda At 08:51 AM 11/1/02 -0600, you wrote:

Hi Rita,

We have an electric grill which, I think, is better than the

Forman grill in that its grilling surfaces are removable and dish washer

safe. It's a GE grill and costs about $75.00.

Thanks,

Walt

Rita,

The General Electric grill I mentioned earlier does not allow grease to

run under the heating plates. The removable plates slant downward, to the

right, and the grease falls through a whole into a plastic container which

is also removable and dish washer safe.

The plates are not coated with Teflon; so, you must spray with cooking

spray before use.

The timer on the grill is spring powered. You, first, have to turn it on

to allow it to get hot; then, after putting the food in it, you reset the

dial to set the time. Walt

Re: Forman Grill

Hi Rita,

there is another grill with removable plates by Hamilton Beech. I really

didn't like it, because grease can spill under the plates, and makes it hard

to clean. I have the Hamilton Beech without the removabbble plates, and I

love it. When you have the soapy water, doing dishes, I just take a dish

colth with soapy water on it and wipe the grill. It is very easy to clean,

especially if you clean it before it completely cools off. Just a little

nonstick spray before cooking, makes it an easy job. What you need to do,

is to go to a place where they have a good selection on display, to decide

for yourself which one will suit your needs.

Thank you Walt. I get the impression from several folks that ceramic

grills will not have the concern of a surface coating wearing off. I am

beginning to think there are better grills than the Forman. Of

course they may well have a newer model. Rita > Hi Rita, >
