Guest guest
you may have been blunt but also very honest! Pain isn't a disease as far as many people are concerned - it has to come from something they can understand like my herniated disc! Pain people get screwed even if you have a dx you're likely to be denied benefits - it's all about $$$$. much love, barb k. ~~ wrote: *Darcy,* *Im sorry but im gonna be frank- thats just freaking rediculous and insurance companies should never be able to determine that. If your dr wrote a script for it and your already in a wheelchair then yes it IS a medical necessity. I love my scooter and its been a long time coming- ive really needed one of these and could never afford one on my own. The easter seals helped me get this one and maybe theyd be able to help you?* *I dont know what your income is but ill tell you that my step father who is a computer tech back 'home' in Connecticut works full time and needed a new hearing aid badly. his insurance would not pay for it so he contacted the easter seals. They helpd him and he had a decent income (CT is so expensive to live in and thats why we moved but even if u have a decent job its hard to get by)* *Anyways i would appeal your insurance companies decision- ask your dr if theyll contact someone cause alot of times a dr can give them a kick in the butt and youll get approved for it.* *Id also contact the easter seals in your state and start the application process- theyll tell you it could take up to 2 yrs but it only took about 7 months for me so u never know. and if you get a wheelchair in meantime you can just contact the easter seals and theyll go to next person on list.* *Hope this helps a bit hun. Insurance companies, workers comp and SSD just aggrivate the hell outta me! supposed to help people but often we get screwed:(* ** *ps sorry to be so blunt LOL* > > > That is wonderful.I am so happy for you.I have a regular wheelchair right > now and i am suppose to be able to get an electrical wheelchair in 6 months > butttttttttttttt albert received a summary that my insurance will not cover > the regualr wheelchair because it is not a medical neccesity so i dont know > what i am going to do.I go to my pain dr today to get my pump refilled for > the first time and she is the one who wrote the perscription so hopefully > she will once again go to bat for me with the stupid insurance company > Albert has through his job.It has me so upset now .I cant do much of > anything anymore but i continue to force myself to walk even though i drag > my legs and feet,I still cant wear shoes just open back slippers but yet the > insurance comapny says its not a medical neccessity can you believe that > Take Care > Darcy
