hi there,

my dad was diag 5/04 and passed away 9/25/05, it was a very fast and yet

long 14 months. dad was on exelon started out very slowly took almost 9

months forf him to get to max dosage, and after a year total on the exelon

we started adding namenda to it, but due to the next phase of lbd where the

blood pressure drops unexpectedly and we had to take him off of all

dementaia meds. as for the mood sweings and the dr jekyll mr hyde routines

we found zoloft helped he started out 50 mg did that for 6 months then we

uppedto 100 mg then the last few months he was alive it was 150 mg. this

helped contorl the mood sweings and seemed to help some with the agitation.

hope this info helps hugs, sharon m

Hi ,

I too would like to know what meds are suitable to give an LDB

patient. I know there is not a lot. My sister has very wide mood

swings and cries a lot too. She was diagnosed a year ago also, but she

has had this illness for much longer than that. She is being given

Ativan for her agitation, but I don't think she should be on Ativan and

I certainly wouldn't recommend your mom being on it. I think it may

help at the time, but when it wears off, her agitation is worse and she

seems very depressed. If someone can advise you what your mom could be

given for these moods, I would love to know as well. Good luck. Anne
