Thank you so much ! It helps to come to this board and have comforting

words waiting to be read while we wait to see what Lewy has in store for us

next. My Uncle is still not awake and it has been 24 hours. I have found, at

times like this, when you need someone to be with you, I am amazed how many

people shy away from actually " coming over " when you need them to. I am so glad

that you all are here and I am not alone.

Thank you all so much for taking this ride with me. Peace, Stevie

Dear Sharon....What a wonderful thought! I will whisper the pretend ride

when I try to wake him in the morning. Thank you so much. Peace, Stevie

" just go tell him about a ride,

pretend you are driving him somewhere like the shore, decribe what you see,

how you feel the wind in your hair and on your face and the smells that you

smell, the salt from the ocean, the pine trees, the roses or honeysuckle,

in hnis mind he can be on that ride if you hjelp him, just a thought hugs

sharon "

stevie, if your gut feeling says to take uncle for one more great ride then

do it. dads peace was with his kitten, i had trained stormy to eat and

drink in dads room so he learned dad loved him and not get so attached to me

but to dad instead. whenever dad was having bad hallucinations or stressing

or bp fluctuating stormy would come in there and sit next to him and let

dad and his big ole clumsy hands stroke him, even when he rubbed the fur the

wrong way , stormy purred strongly for dad, we could hear stormy purring 2

rooms away and when dad was in the nursing home i brought the kitten in too

for dad to see, esp when hte assistant nursing director called me that dad

was stressing. so as crazy as it sounds, maybe your uncle is telling you

mentally that he wants to go for one last ride, if you can get him in the

car, then do it, just like nike commercials say just do it.

who cares what everyone else thinks /says, you know that waw his pride and

joy why not let him have one more msile if you can do it, if you cant do it

as his body is too rigid or etc. than just go tell him about a ride,

pretend you are driving him somewhere like the shore, decribe what you see,

how you feel the wind in your hair and on your face and the smells that you

smell, the salt from the ocean, the pine trees, the roses or honeysuckle,

in hnis mind he can be on that ride if you hjelp him, just a thought hugs

sharon

Hello Dena and All,

Well, my Uncle's bed sores look a bit better today but, unfortunately, he is

already in another " comatose-Lewy " state. He slept in bed most of the day

yesterday (very uncharacteristic of him) waking up once in the afternoon

(3:45)

because he wanted to go to the table. I put him in his wheelchair, fed him

a

late lunch of which he had a very hard time eating with his good hand, and

then

he wanted to get back in bed.

He woke up briefly at 7:00 PM to go to the bathroom, said he was terribly

tired and wanted to go back to sleep, so we put him back in bed for the

night.

That's where he has been ever since.

The health aid from Hospice came this morning at 8:30 to give him a shower

and we found him in the same position we had left him last night and could

not

awake him. She bathed him in bed and he did not budge except for a few

grimaces. I'm calm, thinking this is another CL episode but the health aid

said he

was a bit " different " this time.

I check on him every 15 minutes and put my cheek to his and think of all the

wonderful times we have had, and the things I have learned, and tell him I

love him.

There's not much else to do but wait and see if he will come around again to

check on his pack of imaginary dogs and the many animals that he now sees

and

worries about during the day.....in the mysterious land of Lewyville.

Peace to all of us going through this trying stage of decision and emotional

wear, Stevie

stevie,

i learned to improvise early with dad and lbd he couldnt or wouldnt depends

on what stage he was in, leave his house except for doctors appointments,

there were plenty of times i used visualizaiton to give him peace and

comfort, he loved the blue angels, the us navy flying acrobatic pilots, he

would sit in his bed and listen to them fly over, i would go in there and

lok out the window and see what formations they were flying and describe

them to dad, he so enjoyed the visualizations and at times i would go wow

did you see that flip wasnt it gerat and he would softly smile, that is why

he retired here so he could be near his navy base. hugs sharon m

Hello again ....Thank you so much for your prayers over the weekend! At

this point, the Miracle would be Peace and Comfort. Tonight when I put my

Uncle to bed, his very weak voice said, " I wonder when I will take my last

breath? " I hugged him, all cozied up in his hospital bed, with the rails up

that

he desperately despises, clothed in the unforgivable Depends pull-up, with his

gold watch...that he insists on wearing...dangling halfway up his thin arm,

and simply said, " When you find your way back and your Mother comes to get you. "

He closed his eyes and showed a weak smile, then said goodnight. Yes, Peace

and Comfort. Thank you , Stevie

Dear Stevie -

I'm wondering how things are going and wanted to let you know that I've been

praying for you all weekend. It's never too late to pray for a miracle, but I

also pray that you find peace and comfort.
