VAT exemption on cars

Hi folks,

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new car, standard model which I thought best to have adapted in case of bad days - you know, just the typical stuff, like break/accelerator hand controls plus a servo-assisted clutch.

Warning. Neither the Motability accredited garage nor I knew that the car and adaptations should be included on a single invoice, that's if I were to qualify for the VAT exemptions that came into effect following this year's budget.

So warn your supplier, who may not know of the changes, and check your invoice for VAT exemption before paying. The new VAT Notice 701/7 applies to anyone who might make use of a wheelchair, even though not being permanently confined to one.
