Guest guest
Kim ('s Mom), I would estimate that Mark's " honeymoon " period from infections, so to speak, lasted about 3 1/2 years. He continued to have autoimmune problems after IVIG was started but the infections cleared up about 3 months after beginning. As of August of 2000, the infections returned and have not left. In early December they increased his IVIG to see if this would make a difference. He has been on full course antibiotics for 21 days on numerous occasions since August and yet, he is still is getting bacterial infections. Mark's physicians feel that his IVIG is serving as a dual role right now, one being a replacement of IgG and two serving as an immunomodulatory role, in other words, it is the only thing working for him right now as far as an immune system is concerned. He has about one good week a month. There are other circumstances that are at hand however, Mark's continued battle with LCV and the side effects of the long-term prednisone and Methotrexate (chemo drug) that he is on to treat it. We are hoping for a better 2001. Autumn (Mom to Mark Cd5-Cd19 PID and )
