IgG4

In all my paperwork I could'nt find a result for s IgG subclass 4.

The other 3 subclasses had been done, so I questioned s ped today. He

told me he did'nt know ther WAS an IgG4. Hmmmmm.

When the labs were ordered, subclasses were asked for, so I have to assume

IgG4 is something not routinely checked. Is this universal, is IgG4

considered an insignifigant part of the immune system? I have heard people

talk on the net of IgG4 deficiency, and can't help but wonder why it is not

routinely included with the other subclasses in the lab findings. Does

anyone have a little one with this deficiency, and do they require IVIG even

if the total IgG is within range?

I would really appreciate some input here.

selective antibody def, asthma, hypothyroidism

My son's immunologist also routinely measures all four IgG subclasses.

Do you have the IDF Patient and Family Handbook? On page 39 there is some

information about IgG subclass deficiencies that may be helpful.

Good luck!

If IgG4 def., alone were enough to warrant IVIG, we would have

started it a long time ago. Autumn's IgG4 hasn't shown up on a

profile since she was around 2 years old.

I know very little about IgG4, except that none of her specialists

are " excited " about it (to coin a phrase one of them used).

asthma, chronic sinusitis, and allergies), and #3 on the way!
